Zuzu production requirements
This page and its five-view artwork form the development reference for quotation, pattern engineering and the first physical sample. The factory must preserve the approved face, colours, proportions and distinguishing character details shown above.
Soft short-pile plush / velboa
Select pile length and fabric weight to retain the small-scale silhouette and embroidered detail.
Polyester fibre filling
Evenly filled with a soft, rounded collectible finish; no hard edges or loose internal components.
Embroidery preferred
Eyes, mouth and small facial details should be embroidered. Match the approved artwork and colour references.
Reinforced fabric loop
Secure the top loop into the main seam and attach the approved metal lobster clasp and split ring.
Five-view engineering
Use front, back, left, right and three-quarter views to develop a balanced, repeatable sewing pattern.
Physical sample required
Submit the first sample for proportion, colour, material, embroidery, seam and clasp approval before bulk production.
Confirm age grading and tests
Quote EU/UK EN 71 and applicable marking, plus USA ASTM F963 / CPSIA testing, separately.
Recyclable card or pouch
Show the character name and collection, with barcode/SKU space, warnings and export-carton information.
Approval statusConcept artwork approved for factory quotation and sample development. Final production approval follows review of the physical sample, materials and compliance documentation.

Pattern & assembly
Factory construction controls
- Pattern engineeringDevelop from all five approved views. Preserve the character silhouette, face position and recognisable markings at 8–12 cm finished height.
- Seam engineeringFactory to nominate seam type, stitch density and allowance appropriate to the fabric. Lock seam ends and reinforce the top-loop load path.
- Small-part preventionUse embroidery wherever possible. Any detachable component must be assessed against the intended age grade and applicable mechanical/small-parts requirements.
- In-process inspectionCheck symmetry, embroidery position, seam security, stuffing consistency, metal finish, loop capture and contamination control.
- Golden sampleOne signed and dated approved sample becomes the production master. No material, colour, pattern or supplier change without written approval.
- Final AQL inspectionFactory and buyer must agree critical, major and minor defect classifications plus inspection level before purchase order release.
Legal and standards matrix
Testing and documentation codes
Applicable clauses depend on final age grading, materials, packaging and target market. The factory must obtain confirmation from an accredited laboratory and provide current reports for the production materials—not rely on this web specification alone.
Directive 2009/48/EC during transition
Apply the current harmonised toy standards and prepare the safety assessment, technical file, EU Declaration of Conformity, traceability and CE marking. Regulation (EU) 2025/2509 entered into force in 2026 and applies after its transition period; readiness must include the future digital product passport requirements.

16 CFR Part 1250 / ASTM F963-23
ASTM F963-23 is the mandatory toy standard for relevant products manufactured on or after 20 April 2024. Applicable sections must be confirmed and tested by a CPSC-accepted third-party laboratory where required.
